                                    Evolve Dance Directors 

                                    Jane Alexandre

                                    JANE ALEXANDRE has been working in the New York dance world for more than 30 years as a performer, teacher, director, administrator and writer. After training in the U.S. and Canada, she began her performing career in ballet, and was dancing with Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Workshop when she left to become director and soloist with a fusion company—the Humphrey Dance Ensemble. In 1987 she founded the Tappan Zee Dance Group, which she directed until 2006. She was a visiting artist for the Westchester Arts Council (now ArtsWestchester) for many years, and also the director of a special dance project at the New York School for the Deaf. She is a certified teacher of Pilates exercise, holds a BSc from Queen’s University (Canada), an MA from Antioch University, an MS from Pace University, and a PhD from Antioch University. She was the General Manager of The Equus Projects/Dancing With Horses in NYC; and is the Co-Artistic Director of Evolve Dance Inc.


                                    Colleen Cintron

                                    COLLEEN CINTRON is a NYC based dancer, teacher and choreographer. After graduating cum laude from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, she has danced for Rotem Tashach, Esse Aficionado, John Zullo, Jessica Morgan, Julie B. Johnson and is presently a company member of Von Ussar Danceworks and Rebudal Dance as well as a founding member of danscores by Ofelia Loret de Mola.  Ms. Cintron completed a two-week tour of Kosovo with the US Dept. of Culture teaching modern dance to both newly emerging modern dance companies as well as traditional folk dancers. She followed this exchange by participating in a 1month dance exchange in Accra, Ghana. She has presented and performed her choreography at the Rebound festival and most recently at the Work Gallery in Redhook, Brooklyn. She currently teaches for the Y Dance Program in Tarrytown, NY and is a new board member of Evolve Dance Inc.

                                    Julie B. Johnson

                                    Julie B. Johnson is a New York-based dance artist whose focus is centered on community interaction through choreography, education, performance, and collaboration. She is a Director of Evolve Dance Inc., and a Director of the Y Dance Program, a comprehensive pre-professional dance-training program. She received her dance training from such renowned institutions as the Baltimore School for the Arts, The Ailey School, and the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, to name a few.  Ms. Johnson works extensively throughout New York and beyond. In 2008, she was awarded a scholarship to attend the Jacob’s Pillow Choreographers Lab. Her most recent work, “Out of Our Hands”, was accepted to the 2011 MixMatch Festival in Los Angeles, California, and the WestFest dance festival in New York City. As a teaching artist, Ms. Johnson thoroughly enjoys working with children, teens, and adults in and out of the studio setting. She has been an invited Guest Artist at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, teaching contemporary modern dance and dance pedagogy; and has taught numerous dance residencies for various school districts and community organizations on behalf of Evolve Dance Inc. and ArtsWestchester (formerly the Westchester Arts Council). Ms. Johnson conducts community arts programs and interchanges locally and abroad; in 2009 she coordinated an international dance and cultural exchange in Accra, Ghana. Ms. Johnson has a BA in dance and pedagogy and an MS in nonprofit management. 


                                    Karenne Koo

                                    KARENNE KOO is the Owner of Dotcom Office Management, an office management/bookkeeping consulting business with clients in Westchester County and New York City. She was the Company Manager of a mid-sized non-profit dance studio in Westchester County.
                                    Prior to these positions, she was the Assistant Manager of Santa Fe Trading Company, a Southwestern gift boutique located on Main Street in Tarrytown, NY, a travel consultant with Gelco Travel Services and Thomas Cook Travel in New York and an Assistant Buyer with Filene’s in Boston, MA. From 1994 through 2002, Karenne served as the Assistant Principal, Principal, Director and Chairperson of the Board of the Chinese Language School of Fairfield County (“CLS”) in Stamford, CT. Karenne also served as a Director on the Board of Directors of the Organization of Chinese Americans, Fairfield County Chapter, the non-profit organization that operates CLS. Karenne is currently participating in the Executive Directors Leadership Program, offered by LEAP (Leadership Education for AsianPacifics, Inc.); and she is serving on the Advisory Committee of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center's Chinatown JUMP Program (Joining Urban Partners for More Physical Activity).  

                                    Annie Tucker

                                    ANNIE TUCKER'S interests lie at the intersection of disability, culture, personal experience and the arts.  Her professional activities encompass teaching, research and writing, therapeutic practice, performance and production.  She received her B.A from Barnard College and her M.A. from UCLA's Department of World Arts and Cultures.  Annie is still at UCLA where she is pursuing her Ph.D., investigating the treatment of autism in Indonesia with a focus towards local arts-based modalities of intervention and inclusion.  She also designs curriculum and teaches for the growing Disability Studies minor there.  She has been lucky to study, create, and share movement with others in diverse locales including Ghana, Berlin, Albuquerque, New York, and Los Angeles.
